Womens Early 1920s Antique Dress Black Silk Faille Edwardian Large 48 Bust
This antique 1910-1920s women's black dress from the turn of the century-edwardian period could have been a mourning gown, since it is all black and large in size. It is made out of black silk faille, and consists of a dress with an apron style skirt attached. The over skirt has beautiful pattern of soutache or braid cord in a design over the entire hem.
This pattern is repeated on the wide collar and the inset at the neckline. It snaps open for getting in an out of. It is well made, substantial and will hold up under use as far as I can tell. Its generous in size too! A name is attached inside- Elizabeth Stewart. I dont have any particular history on this one- I bought it a long time agao and it was lost in the melee of clothing items we stock...Perfect for Titanic costumes or even some Downton Abbey affairs.
