Vintage Womens Swimsuit Bathing Suit Royal Blue Textured Lastex 1930s 34 Bust Small
Love the deep blue color of this unusual vintage swimsuit from the 1930s. There is a lighter blue in the pattern giving it a textured look. It's a swim dress/bathing suit of "lasted"- a two-way stretch textile made from Latex, introduced in 1925. Lastex is a yarn that has an elastic core wound around with cotton or silk or nylon or rayon threads. Lastex was registered as a trademark in 1931. Lastex was known as the 'miracle fiber' when it first came out. Lastex began to be used in swimwear starting in the late '30s and continuing through the '50s.
It has a skirted style that falls from under the bust, soft cups( no support) with some unique details as shown, and thread thru straps & scoops back.
It is lined with the same color blue cotton knit body which includes the panty- all one piece.
No label but the fabric matches another Lastex suit I have, and it was fairly common to use this in that era.
