Vintage Laird-Knox Coat & Dress 1960s White/Olive NOS 37-35-39
$ 140.00
This high quality Laird-Knox designer fitted shift dress and coat still have original paper tags stating the fabric is 100% rayon- I would have sworn it is linen! The dress is pure white, with sleeveless, prices style cut, full back zip, lined in white silk. It has an attached black patent leather belt.
The coat is of olive green, same fabric, a sack coat style, with 3 large black shiny buttons closing the front. Lined in white satin. Label is "Robert Knox for Laird Knox" and also it came from the Mollie Abrahamson Shop.
Here is some info on this label:
Laird-Knox was established in 1960, having evolved from Ben Gershel & Co., and both at 512 Seventh Avenue, NY. By at least 1944 Robert (Bobby) Knox was designing for coat and suit manufacturer Ben Gershel, until he became a designer for and partner in Laird-Knox.
Knox retired from Laird-Knox in 1971 and died in 1973. Knox (also known as Knoxie) was born in Brooklyn and was a graduate of the Traphagen School of Fashion. He entered the fashion world in 1923, at the age of 15, as a sketcher for the New York shop Lucille.
