Vintage Ladies Opera Coat Orange/Turquoise Metallic Brocade Deco Pattern 1918 M
Fantastic and rare vintage find in a truly wearable size! This fantastic coat is made up entirely of silk brocade in vibrant colors of blood orange and turquoise and a metallic iridescent bronze accent color. I have never seen anything like this! It has a dropped bodice, which is slightly "bloused" on top. The bodice is edged with panels of the fabric, which also edges the sleeves.
The shoulders are pleated, and it has set in sleeves. It closes at the neck and waist with an elaborate self-fabric frog and covered button. I believe this is probably pre-1920, but only just. The back hem is curved with the border, and that border is on an angle on the front. Unbelievable! The lining is a toffee colored velvet. Much of this is handmade and finished.
The label is " F.E.Trafton, Boston". The only info I could find is in a 1918 Business directory for Boston Mass. It reminds me of a Fortuny print. This is one of a kind- you'll not find another like it.
