The antique cameo is 2 3/4" x 1 1/2" and has a folding bale so you can wear it as a necklace. It weighs 15.5 grams.
I noticed that there is a lot in the way of rings but not cameos, so this may be a really rare piece.
The Titanic connection is interesting to me, because I sold many thousands of pieces of vintage clothing to the movie with Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet, and that the man who designed and crafted this brooch went down with the Titanic is literally amazing.( see below)
Engalhart Cornelius Ostby is a legend in the jewelry trade. He emigrated from Oslo, Norway to the US in 1869. After forming his own company with his partner, Nathan Barton in 1879, they became well known for their high quality and beautifully made jewelry. Mr. Ostby later perished when the Titanic sunk in 1912.
