ANTIQUE HAND EMBROIDERED LINSEY-WOOLSEY RED SHAWL 1860S
Fantastic natural linsey-woolsey shawl in red with hand embroidery at each end and the edges. The ends have paisleys in bright turquoise and yellow- very striking.. The edges are also embroidered. This is in MINT condition and has no moth or any flaws at all. It measures 25" x 70 ¾ ".
This is one many pieces that were purchased by L.V. Collings, Vice-President and General Counsel, of the Standard Vacuum Oil company (now ESSO) in the 1950's. He and his wife traveled extensively in the Orient and Asia, bringing back many antiques and textiles. See all photos at top of listing.
