VTG Louella Ballerino 1940s Swimsuit 2 PC RARE Bates Fabric Undersea Yellow

In 1946, designer Louella Ballerino designed this suit for Jantzen using fabric from the Bates Company. The two-piece was relatively new, having been first shown by Carolyn Schnurer in 1931, but taking almost a decade before gaining popular approval.

The vintage 2 piece swimsuit, which is super RARE, BTW, has the following measurements:

The top is small, at the altered size of 30" bust, but there is 4" of material folded over that the previous owner did to make it smaller. So you could make it larger by 2-3" and the original buttonholes are still there. It's for a small-busted gal though, and the cups are unsupported and no boning. There is a halter strap to hold it up. The top is quite faded.

The bottom is in better shape, not nearly as faded, and it's a full cotton panty, same print, with a side zipper, no stretch, and a wrap skirt.

Measures:26" waist,38" hips, 15" rise in front. Lined in white cotton.

The bottom has both the Louella Ballerino and Bates label and as you can see it is the exact suit worn in the ad from 1946. I am not selling this so much as a wearable, but a more historical and for investment.
