Vintage 1960s Marimekko Design Research "Piccolo" A-Line dress/jumper of vertical stripes in crisp white & red. 100% cotton, substantial weight. Love the flutter sleeves ala pinafore style... Silver button back closure. Front patch pockets. Can be worn either way!
One owner, who bought in the US store in the 1960s. DR is Design Research, the company/store that first sold Marimekko in the US in the 1960s. They went out of business in the mid-1970s, so a Marimekko dress with the original DR label is proof of its authenticity and age.

Vuokko Nurmesniemi was a principal designer for Marimekko and known for bold color and shape combinations, whimsical looks. May be responsible for this design!
