Vintage James Galanos Couture Cocktail Dress Black Full Skirt Late 1950s 38-31-Free
Fabulous vintage Galanos creation is a "Red Carpet" worthy vintage cocktail/evening gown by James Galanos; it is comprised of jet black silk of a substantial weave; The bodice is classic and sleeveless with a wide scoop neckline. The skirt is a "wrap" sort of affair, with a sort of asymmetrical skirt and a button with french buttonhole accent in front. The skirt is voluminous and the bottom 10" of the back hem is slightly padded. It closes at the side with an underarm zipper and hooks/eyes. The skirt is also heavily pleated on both sides. You could add a petticoat for extreme fullness in the skirt.
This is the PURR-fect classic gown for a very formal event you may attend.
The label is Galanos, this one putting this dress between 1954-63. I would say the late 1950s based on the style and type of zipper. This is more than just fashion, it is an investment in fashion history.
