Fabulous rich silk metallic damask is the base for this heavy and exquisite vintage evening gown that was custom made for Sonja Loew, a Czech who married theater magnate E. M. Loew and was fabulous for her generosity, outrageous outfits, and indecipherable accent. She is sitting next to Zsa Zsa Gabor in this photo.
This dress is like liquid gold, the metal in the fabric looks like jewelry, and has a great drape. It is hard to describe the feel of it.
The sleeves have a slightly Asian feel in that they are full at the bottom like a kimono. The bodice is fitted, the skirt is straight. It is lined in a cotton type material. The seam allowances are wide and you can tell this was hand tailored.It has a full back metal zipper.
No label, but as I said, this is custom made.
