Vintage MCM Apron Dress Cotton Striped Maurice Rentner Unique 1950s 40-29-40
This lovely dress is a great example of the "Apron Dress", where there is a tight-fitting hobble style dress under a full overskirt- hence the apron dress- that really emphasizes the hips. I know what you're thinking- EMPHASIZE MY HIPS!!!??? But, my dear, it does minimize the waist. It is quite lovely and feminine, unlike most styles today.
This one is made of a possible rayon material in white and pale gray. I can't identify it, it's heavy and textured. It has two large patch pockets on the apron. There is a full-back zipper. The skirt is tight to the knees and has no kick pleat. Plan on walking with a wiggle in this one.
It is lined in tissue silk, and the other label, not photoed, is Maurice Rentner Original. If this had a belt, we didn't get it.
